Art and Dance Installation
400m2
Client: Turner Contemporary Margate, Arts Council of England
An immersive, 360-degree installation, involving timed interactive performances by Jasmin Vardimon’s dance company, performed at Margate’s Winter Gardens in spring 2015, and will commence UK tour throughout 2015.
The central seating within the Winter Gardens is removed to make place for a 400m² labyrinthine structure made from large industrial foam blocks, evocative of quarry stacks or monolithic archaeological sites. The unusual coexistence of dancers and visitors within the same stage-space will explore the boundaries of ‘risk’; Both exploration and discovery, cosiness and discomfort, delight and fear. This notion will be further celebrated through the planned later incarnations of this installation at the Turner Contemporary Museum in Margate, 2 key venues in London, and across the UK.
